
Turkish Consul General Visits Prof. Ulas Bagci’s AI Laboratory at Northwestern University
The Consul General of Türkiye in Chicago, Mr. Tahir Bora Atatanır, visited Prof. Ulas Bagci and his Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Northwestern University to learn more about ongoing research and international collaborations in medical AI.
During the visit, Prof. Bagci presented the lab’s cutting-edge work in developing AI-driven solutions for healthcare, including early detection of pancreatic cancer, AI-based management of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer, and machine intelligence approaches for treatment decision support. He also highlighted the lab’s broader efforts in multimodal medical AI, translational research, and clinically integrated systems designed to improve patient outcomes.
The meeting emphasized the lab’s strong and growing connections with Türkiye. Prof. Bagci discussed ongoing and planned collaborations with Turkish institutions, as well as educational and training initiatives that support students, clinicians, and researchers across both countries.
Mr. Atatanır expressed his appreciation for the lab’s impactful work and its role in strengthening scientific and academic ties between Türkiye and the United States. He conveyed the Consulate’s full support for Prof. Bagci’s mission and future collaborative efforts.
The visit marks an important step toward expanding international partnerships in AI-driven healthcare innovation and fostering continued collaboration between Northwestern University and institutions in Türkiye.
