A 2011 RSNA conference contribution describing automated analysis of renal donor CT images, including kidney segmentation, volume and length measurement, and assessment of renal vessels and ureters.
Summary
This conference contribution describes an automated method for analyzing preoperative computed tomography (CT) images of potential living kidney donors. The reported workflow included kidney segmentation and measurement, assessment of renal vessels and ureters, and segmentation of the renal cortex. The evaluation compared automated assessments with a radiologist’s manual assessment in 10 anonymized donor cases. The available abstract characterizes the work as preliminary; it does not establish prospective clinical validation or readiness for routine clinical use.
