This 2011 RSNA meeting abstract describes an exploratory comparison of CT-based computer-aided diagnosis and PET texture measures in longitudinal imaging of interstitial lung disease. The available record reports correlations between imaging changes but does not establish prospective clinical validation.

Summary

The study examined whether changes in computed tomography (CT) computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) results corresponded with texture-based measures from positron emission tomography (PET) in longitudinal imaging of interstitial lung disease. The reported approach used gray-level co-occurrence matrix texture features from CT regions of interest and kurtosis, skewness, and histogram features from PET images. The abstract reports a correlation between CT and PET changes related to diffuse lung parenchymal disease. These findings are from a meeting abstract; the available record does not provide enough information to assess the study’s design limitations or establish prospective clinical validation.
